If you're riding a Harley-Davidson® Twin Cam motorcycle 2000 to 2007 with early-style spring cam chain tensioners, the dual camshafts of Big Twins were chain driven using spring-style cam chain tensioners. The springs were required to be very stiff to keep the proper chain tension in order to maintain proper timing during motor operation. Using as much as five horsepower just to spin the cams when under the load of the spring tensioners. Excessive wear of the plastic tensioner shoes soon reared its ugly head, so Harley-Davidson developed the hydraulic cam chain tensioner system used on '08 and later Big Twin motors.
This kit updates the cam chain tensioner of your Twin Cam 88® engine to the latest design, as featured on the Twin Cam 96? engine. The billet cam support plate has been designed to allow the installation of the Twin Cam 96? hydraulic cam chain tensioner to Twin Cam 88®-equipped models.
Significantly outlast the spring loaded tensioners, and are an ideal addition to an engine modified for improved performance
The kit includes an improved Screamin' Eagle® HIGH OIL FLOW OIL PUMP that provides increased oil pressure at high-operating temperature.
This kit increases the oil supply by 23% and scavenging by 50% when compared to the '99-'05 Original Equipment oil pump, and reduces operating temperature of bearings to improve bearing life
